7 Amazing Things You Can Do in the Holy Month of Ramadan
This forthcoming 13th April 2021, the holy month of Ramadan will be blessed in the Muslim population once again. Ramadan is the blessed month where we can take the opportunity in engaging with our inner selves and with Almighty Allah.
Coming towards the end of the blissful month, it’s not about our new and fancy new clothes, or the preparation for Eid, on the contrary it is about the good deeds that we do which will enable us to become better individuals.
Prior to the blessed month of Ramadan, we need to set our intentions and here it comes the 7 simple and beautiful deeds that we can do during Ramadan and we will be rewarded plentifully by Allah.
1. Offer a meal to your loved ones
Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani said: The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Whoever gives iftar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.” Sahih At-Tirmidhi.
Preparing dishes in the kitchen nowadays is easy thanks to advanced technology appliances such as an all-in-one air fryer.
Grab this golden opportunity to bond with the family members too!
2. Re- establishes connection with old friends over iftar
The holy Prophet (PBUH) said: “Anyone who wants to have his provision expanded and his term of life prolonged should maintain ties of kinship.” [Al Adab Al Mufrad]
In fact many Muslims are looking forward to the sacred month of Ramadan to re- establish friendships and rapport over iftar gatherings. There are a range of options that you and your friends can choose . For instance they can opt for a good old scrumptious meal at the mosque to various amazing bazaar goodies.
3. Read and internalize the Quran daily
For many Muslims, it is easy to read the Quran, however most of the time, we tend to overlook internalizing the meaning of the Quran and implement its teachings in our daily lives. Ramadan is also known as the month of the Quran therefore what could be the best way to enjoy this beautiful month other than reciting it every day? We are rewarded on top of that for every Arabic letter that we recite. For those who are not accustomed with the Arabic letters and tajwid, well it is never too late to start learning.
The sheer beauty of Islam is how we are rewarded only for our intent and our attempts, not at the outcomes.
“(It is) the month of Ramadan in which the Qur’an was revealed as a guidance for mankind, clear proofs giving guidance, and the Criterion (for distinguishing right and wrong). So whoever of you witnesses this month, let him fast it.” [2:185
4. Offer Sunnah prayers
Another way to feel contemplated during Ramadan is having the awareness that we have attempted to pray the non-obligatory prayers before or after your Mandatory (Fardh) prayers.
In the blessed month, the 2 to 20 rakaat Sunnah prayers that are performed could be the gateway to obtain from Allah whatever we are yearning for. In addition to that, it is also during those quiet, intimate prayers that we will feel mostly the closest to Allah.
5. Give Additional Charity
In addition to the obligatory zakat, it is highly recommended also to give extra charity during the blessed month of Ramadan. Charity does not necessarily mean giving money to the needy ones, but it can be also in different forms such as helping the parents to cook or donating old clothes to the one who are desperately needy. The self satisfaction and happiness obtained once once having helped someone to ease their life is definitely blissful . Even offering a smile at a stranger is a beautiful act of charity!
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Every good deed is charity. Verily, it is a good deed to meet your brother with a cheerful face, and to pour what is left from your bucket into the vessel of your brother.”
6. Increase the remembrance of Allah
It is strongly recommended to begin and end the blessed month of Ramadan by reflecting why we chose to fast in the first in the place, and it’s all due of Allah and showing our submission to Him alone. During this holy month of Ramadan, it is essential to increase the remembrance of Allah by doing simple things such as zikr or setting the intentions straight. For instance, we can attend religious talks or events which bring the community closer in an Islamic way.
7. Volunteer for charitable events
Time is always the best gift that one can offer to others. By volunteering as an act of charity does not affect in Ramadan. In fact, it fuels individuals to do more and to their best abilities when offering support to others.
The amount of activities that can be done is limitless as there are many welfare organizations that are always in need of volunteers. In fact, by volunteering the rewards are more and widen the perspectives in life and social network.
Last but not least, there are indeed many other ways where we can do amazing actions to make Ramadan 2021 more meaningful, so let us try to make the most out of this blessed month as much as possible.
Ramadan 2021 Mubarak everyone!
